Our inspiration
The Kurt Defrancq Huis found inspiration in the Rosa Spier House in Laren, the Netherlands. Rosa Spier was a Dutch harpist who first mooted the idea of 'a safe haven for older artists' in 1963. 6 years later, that dream became a reality and the Rosa Spier Huis opened its doors.
The inspirer
Actor Kurt Defrancq performed a theatre monologue in the Rosa Spier Huis some time ago and was hugely impressed by this unique form of living together. The idea soon arose to create a similar Flemish initiative: the Kurt Defrancq Huis.
